One of the best things about touring TNNA is seeing all of our great GBOY friends and supporters. On the left stands the blond, handsome and very talented Rhichard from Koigu--sorry girls, he's taken. Rhichard works first hand with Maie to deliver those curiously sumptuous colorways that continue to mesmorize us. Koigu is a mainstay for GBOY sock-knitters as well as miter fans. There's my gal pal T, who kept me laughing, even when the blisters on our feet raged. Next to T is my friend, the adorable and very talented Ms Nicky Epstein. Love ya Girl! Nicky never runs out of ideas. When asked what her favorite design is, she'll tell you, "the next one." Just wait until you see her new book which will be in our stores a-lickety-split. The models wore Nicky's vintage jewelry in most of the shots. I think she was just as excited about that as I was about her criss-cross sweater design, which will be a hit in our Boca store, for sure. To the right of me is the FABULOUS Stu Berg--mega-rep of the industry. Stu gave me my start with our first vendor and my favorite line, Trendsetter Yarns from Van Nuys, California. Barry Klein owns the company and always has an innovative new product, fiber or technique forthcoming. Barry will again headline our Caribbean Knitting Cruise this winter in February. BTW, we have over 50 people signed up and the ads haven't hit yet. The ladies love Mr. Klein and so do we!Scoop, Patterns and New Arrivals from South Florida's Gourmet Knitting Stores...

HERE'S TO DEAR FRIENDS

MAS MAS MAS
OOOHH THERE'S MORE....Highlights? All that glitters is gold--For Real! Laura Bryant and Barry Klein continue to dazzle us with Fashion and Glitz. While the rest of the nation enjoys the green line, one must remember that South Floridians love shiny, glitz and bling. High Fashion is FUN and glitz is IN--Just cruise down to 305 and you'll see what I mean. At TNNA we noticed see a resurgence in metallics and texture. Not so much eyelash but color color color and by that we mean reds and jewel tones. Laura, LOVED the innovative wrap. Can't wait to have it in Palm Beach!
Lace is popular, but let's face it. Unless you have a miner's cap and a magnifying glass, it's a challenge. The designs were beautiful and our lace pick was from Kaalund Yarns from Australia, who featured an extra-fine hand-dyed silk. Loved it and ordered it. Stephi, thank me later.
Nora Bellows from NONI is distributing her patterns again. Good news. This kid is FRESH. Loved her attention to detail and her bright yellow felted couture bag. Dior would be jealous. Excellent structure and a keen sense of design. By the way, the felted girls' jacket--adorable and the yarn you use Nora is so much softer than before. Glad you'll join us for a workshop this winter in Palm Beach, Stuart and Boca. You win the fresh peach award. Love to see a young, stylish, creative pacesetter in the industry!

Highlights? All that glitters is gold--For Real! Laura Bryant and Barry Klein continue to dazzle us with Fashion and Glitz. While the rest of the nation enjoys the green line, one must remember that Al Gore lost the election in Palm Beach County. Green is good but glitz is IN--bling bling! We did see a resurgence in metallics and texture. Not so much eyelash but color color color and by that we mean reds and jewel tones. Laura, LOVED the innovative wrap. GBOY Reviews TNNA Show
Columbus Ohio is not a place I look forward to visiting. However, once I'm there I remember why I like it so much. Great restaurants, thought-provoking galleries and nice, friendly, mid-Western ambassadors. And Yarn, YARN, YAAARRRNNNN!!!Columbus hosts the industry's largest and most influentail NeedleArts Show. It's the show where the best and the brightest present their latest idea, trends, designs and merchandise. It's the Mecca for all Yarn Afficiandos. The Show.
My comrade in purchasing, Miss Tanya and I meandered from aisle to aisle, scouring hundreds of booths, in search of the best to bring to South Florida's Gourmet Knitting Stores. And here's our review.
There's a hell of a lot of sock yarn out there. For those of you that enjoy a feet-first project, you go girls and boys, because there's a lot of that weight just a-waiting for you. Hand-dyes, space-dyes, washable, blends--we got it for you. And kilos of it, friends. In Florida we wear Steve Bonnanos--that's sandals, folks. However, for those of you that enjoy a thin needle, then you have the best selection ever. Our faves--Araucania has a new machine-wash sock. Soft and pretty. Koigu, while it's a sock-weight yarn, has multiple uses and here in SoFla, we like it for summer-weight sweaters, gives us a hearty array of monotones. Love it and bought it. Same with Colinette Jitterbug. A great selection of "Kolours" that is machine-washable. We see a variety of kid's garments knitted in Jitterbug for that reason. New and tempting and certainly in demand is Malabrigo's Merino Sock. We love Tobi and Antonio and look forward to getting all the flavors as soon as our amigos are back in biz after their devasting fire. Look for their luscious yarn soon as they are determined to deliver.
Debbie Bliss and Louisa Harding have been busy Brits over the year. Louisa has some really fresh designs which you'll see soon and Debbie has a new magazine set to debut in a month or so. Our dream would be to have these two lovelies visit our stores--you never know....!
